Foster Care
Foster carers are ordinary people who want to look after children. You will go and live with a foster carer in their home. Foster carers are given money by social care to pay for the cost of your food, clothes, your pocket money and other things that you may need. Most foster carers look after children for quite a short time. Some may look after them until they grow up and leave home. If you live with other members of your family or with friends then this is called kinship care.
Residential Homes
Sometimes social workers may look for a residential placement for you to live in. These are often known as residential homes. They are usually houses where a small number of young people live together and are looked after by residential workers.
