Tower Hamlets Council is committed to reducing poverty and deprivation in the borough. We have one of the highest rates of poverty in London, with 79 per cent of children living in low income families, of which 53 per cent of the parents are unemployed.

One of the ways we’re trying to reverse this situation is by making sure deprived families are fully aware of all the benefits and financial support they are entitled to. Each year millions of pounds of benefits go unclaimed, which is why we fund a number of organisations, such as Claim the Max and Limehouse Project, that can help you calculate your benefits and maximise your income.
