Staying Safe with Mobile Phones
- Don’t respond to nasty calls or messages to your phone. The person sending the message may not be who you think they are. They may be using a stolen phone.
- If you getting abusive messages then get an adult to reply. Text back that the message may be reported to the police.
- Keep any abusive messages and images. They can be used as evidence against bullies.
- Tell your friends NOT to give your phone number out to other people without your permission.
What to do if things go wrong
- Talk to an adult about the problem (ideally your parent/carer).
- Ask them to contact the phone network for you.
- Networks can sometimes change your number for you and they will give advice on informing the police.
- Buy a new SIM card and only share the number with trusted people.
