Sometimes you spend so long looking for a job that, once you get one, you’re too busy counting your lucky stars to protest against unreasonable hours and poor working conditions. But there’s a whole bunch of regulations in place to prevent people being exploited at work and, as a young person, there are also a number of conditions that employers have to stick to when hiring you. Holiday time, working hours, sick pay, dismissals and wages are all regulated to some extent by the government and employers can be penalised if they break the rules.
