To get work you need experience, but to get experience you need to work. This catch-22 results in so many rejection emails that you wonder if you should just address your CV to the company’s spambox! One way to break free of this loop is work experience. Sure, you’re not getting paid, but the important thing is that you’re putting relevant experience on your CV and getting solid references. Plus there’s a good chance a placement will lead directly to a job – around 72 per cent of them do according to recent studies.
